Rock and Roll 2 (Click to select text)
In this present day in age, people often wonder how our great country came about. They ask themselves whom or what influenced this nation. What happened during the harsh years of those trials and tribulations? The American nation has gone through some pretty big changes. In recent research, one of the leading influences of the great 1960's was the music. Thus we are here to discuss how the so-called "Rock and Roll" influenced the 1960's. First of all, how did all this rock ever come about? Who started it? Who followed it, who adored it? All these questions can and will be answered. At the start of "Rock and Roll" there was only one man, "The King" Elvis. He put together rhythm and blues, country and birthed what is now called "Rock and Roll." Parents did not like nor believed in it at all. Some adults called it the devils music. Yet the youth of America loved and stood up for it. Th old nagging parents got rid of the music, but bot for long. In the 1960's rock and roll made a huge revival. "Repots of its demise were highly exaggerated,” said Gale Research. All that hated it, also hated the famous radio station WINS. WINS, was the first radio station to broadcast rock and roll. They were only in it for the music. By the time WINS was part of the revival, the famous, unforgettable 1960's were there. For the next two decades, the United States did mot know what it was about to go though. It was going to go through drugs, war, and heartache. What helped this time of suffering, the rock. The youth looked to the music. It was not just in America, rock had gone worldwide. People had turned to the music because it made them feel good. Plus it helped getting high a lot easier. With the heavy use with drugs, rockers started to change their music. Hardrock was musicians getting high on stage. This music was always trying to speak out against the major issues of the 60's: war, youth, drugs, and freelove. Rockers such as "The Mamas and Papas," "Neil Young," and "Peter, Paul, and Mary" were big anti-war buffs. The Vietnam War took a great toll on the 1960's. At all the sit-ins, pickets, and all there was, was the music. People always rocked out. Big groups that had their starts during the 1960's such as "Aerosmith." They (Aerosmith) were huge time drug fanatics. When Steven Tyler, lead singer for "Aerosmith," would go on stage the scarf around the microphone was coated with crack. People would see people like Tyler and Jagger do drugs, so then they themselves would do so also. Free lone was a big thing in the1960's also. It was broadcasted to the entire country to. Bands would always advertise great things such as peace, love, and the pursuit of happiness. Nobody wanted trouble, they all just wanted to do what they were doing on stage getting high. All the people of the 1960's whether they knew it or mot were affected by the music. They all in one way or another acted out the lyrics of their models. During the war the music is what lifted the spirit of our soldiers. The music led strikes, it led people to drugs. Yet, peace and love had come out of it all. So many adults disdained the music because it was to fast or had too much of a hypnotic beat. The thing about rock is that it's both bad and good. Thus this information has taught us how our great country has been influenced. This by far is not the only thing that has affected the homeland throuoght history, it has just been there always. Rock and roll played a great roll during the 60's, it was there when our boys were in the jungles looking for people named Charley, it was there when our parents were getting high in the streets, and it was there to aid the protesters. It made our parents rebel against to our grandparents, it made the journey to Canada not seem so long for the hippies. All in all, when people wondered what our country was influenced by they can now have an answer. When they ask who was there for the Americans they do not have to say George Washington, or Thomas Jefferson, they can say Jerry Garcia, or Steven Tyler. So in closing to the answer of who or what affected this great nation the rockers and the music of the 1960's did.
